Theresa Ming-Gauthier
Theresa was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, where she began her earliest movement studies in martial arts. She grew up as the only girl among four brothers and together they studied Tae Kwon Do, as well as Chinese wushu under Grandmaster An Tianrong, former teacher of martial arts star Jet Li. Dance formally entered her life a bit later when she began her degree at The Ohio State University from which she earned a BA in Chinese Language and Culture with a Dance Minor. During this time she had the wonderful opportunity to join Xclaim Dance Company for two years. With Xclaim, she worked with inner city middle school youth as a mentor and teacher and realized that she could use dance to build community and empower youth. Her desire to become a great teacher brought her to The School of Dance’s Contemporary Diploma program, where she trained intensively full-time for one year, working with choreographers Sylvie Desrosiers, Cathy Kyle Fenton, Serge Bennathan and Andrew Turner.
Her artistry continues to grow through her apprenticeship with Dandelion Dance Company, her training as yoga teacher, and her continued practice at The School of Dance. Her hope is that dance and movement can always be a medium through which she can create greater connectedness in her community and support youth.
Theresa has collaborated with TAKE UP SPACE as a performer in TAKE UP SPACE + MOONFRUITS and as performer/choreographer in little dances / petites danses.

Theresa est née et elevée à Columbus, Ohio, où elle a débuté ses études en arts martiaux. La seule fille parmi quatre garçons, elle étudiait le Tae Kwon Do avec ses frères, ainsi que le wushu chinois sous le grand maître An Tianrong, ancien enseignant de la star Jet Li. Elle a obtenu son baccalauréat en Langue et Culture Chinoise avec une mineure en Danse à Ohio State University. Pendant ce temps Theresa a eu l’opportunité de travailler avec Xclaim Dance Company pour deux ans comme enseignante et mentor pour les jeunes des écoles du centreville. Elle a réalisé qu’avec la danse, elle pourrait contribuer à la communauté et supporter les jeunes. Son désir à devenir une excellente enseignante l’a amené au Programme de danse contemporaine à The School of Dance, où elle poursuivait une formation à temps-plein pour un an et travaillait avec chorégraphes Sylvie Desrosiers, Cathy Kyle Fenton, Serge Bennathan et Andrew Turner.
Elle continue à explorer sa créativité avec son apprentissage avec Dandelion Dance Company, sa formation en enseignement de yoga et sa pratique à The School of Dance. Son espoir: créer des liens dans sa communauté et supporter les jeunes à travers la danse et le mouvement.
