Sarah Hopkin
Sarah Hopkin is a freelance dance artist from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is currently dancing for the Ottawa Dance Directive lead by artistic director Yvonne Coutts, TAKE UP SPACE lead by Elizabeth Emond-Stevenson, and for choreographers Peggy Baker (with the support of the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts), Cathy Kyle Fenton (with the support of the City of Ottawa) and Allison Burns. She has danced as a junior company member for Toronto Dance Theatre (2015-2016), an intern for Mocean Dance (2015), and in Dance Ontario's Dance Weekend (2015). She has worked as a demonstrator for Peggy Baker at Canada’s National Ballet School in the summers of 2016 and 2017, and teaches contemporary dance in the professional ballet division at The School of Dance in Ottawa.
Sarah has choreographed in a number of collaborative projects with composer Julia Mermelstein and was commissioned by Julia with the support of the Toronto Arts Council in 2016. Sarah has choreographed and performed in the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival and in Ottawa’s Dark Horse Dance Projects 2017. Sarah continues her choreographic explorations through her work on the ballet students at The School of Dance, collaborating with composer Pierre-Luc Clément.
Sarah has collaborated with TAKE UP SPACE as a performer in where the wings grow.

Sarah Hopkin est artiste de danse indépendente d’Halifax, Nouvelle-Écosse. Elle travaille présentement avec le Centre de Danse Contemporaine (ODD) dirigé par Yvonne Coutts, TAKE UP SPACE dirigé par Elizabeth Emond-Stevenson, et pour chorégraphes Peggy Baker (avec le soutien du Conseil des arts de l’Ontario et le Conseil des arts du Canada), Cathy Kyle-Fenton (avec le soutien de la ville d’Ottawa) et Allison Burns. Elle a dansé avec la compagnie Toronto Dance Theatre comme membre junior (2015-2016), avec Mocean Dance comme stagiaire (2015) et pour Dance Ontario’s Dance Weekend (2015). Elle était démonstratrice pour Peggy Baker à l’École nationale de ballet pendant l’été 2016 et 2017. Elle enseigne la danse contemporaine dans le programme professionnel de ballet à The School of Dance.
